What the Doors Are Like
San Diego's mild coastal-adjacent climate means Del Cerro doors aren't fighting the wide temperature swings that crack seals or seize hardware the way you'd see in a harsher climate band. That works in your favor - steel doesn't rust out here the way it does somewhere with real winters, and wood trim doesn't warp the way it would in a wetter zone. The failures we see are mechanical wear, not weather damage: springs that have simply cycled out their life, cables fraying at the drum, and rollers that have gone from steel to nylon-and-back over a few replacement rounds.
Because a lot of this housing stock is 1970s-vintage, panel sizes and spring specs sometimes don't match what's on the shelf at a big box store - an older single-panel door or an early sectional model can need a spring wound to a spec nobody stocks off the truck. That's an honest limitation: on some of the oldest setups, we may need to order a part rather than swap it same-visit. We'll tell you straight if that's the case before we start, not after.

If you're in Del Cerro and something's off with the door - it's heavy to lift by hand, it's making a bang partway through the cycle, or the opener light blinks without the door moving - that's usually a spring or a sensor issue, both worth a look before they turn into a stuck door. Given the age of housing in this part of the city, we'd rather diagnose it early than have you find out the hard way with the car trapped inside.
